Chapter 6: Crafting Understandings

In this chapter we will see a close look to the desired understandings. In a way or a another these statements are essential, and it will help us to summaize and understand the chapter. First, we need to focus on ideas that are clear and specific, in order to develope understanding.
Once we apply the understanding to our plannings, we should make sure that the objectives and goals are cleearly specified, as well as what we expect from students to develope and learn.
Undesrtanding has to be concrete, no random ideas will be appropiate.

Finally students are given the chance to came up with different answers depending on the type of understanding. Overarching understanding will give students the chance to think and decide whats the best answer or conclusion for an specific question. From my opinion this is very useful, because students interpret and decide at the same time, in that way they develope thinking.

Chapter 5: Essential Questions: Doorways to Understanding

This chapter made me think a lot about something that is very common inside the classroom. Questions are extremely important. According to my experience as student and teacher trainee I can firmely say that Questions are a really useful tool to make students think and participate. When teacher asks something studens know that their are expected to answer, and they start thinking on the posible answers. That it's very helpful for their minds, because they work them out. Apart from that, I also think that through Questions students can actually prove what the know. That makes them feel comfortable, because many times students need teacher's approval as an incentive.
Moreover, Questioning make students reflect on different things, and that is very important, because in that way apart from developing reflection they develope curiosity and understanding.

The Six Facets of Understanding

In a way or another the author tells that 6 facets should be used inside the classroom. Explanation:s students found out the significance about something that they unknown, it's when students say that they finally understood certain topic or word. It is when students can answer why and how of the creation of his/her knowledge.Interpretation: The objective of this part is to make students internalize the meaning of the knowledge provided.APPLICATION: When students actually apply what the already learnt. They apply the knowlesge in different situations of real life, of course in a real context. Perspective: the ability to see the things from a point of view that doesn't involve the person, an outer point of view, The view of the situation will be objective and more mature. Empathy: From my point of view the most important. It is when students are able to see or feel what others are experiencing, In this way students could understand and help eache other. Self knowledge: It is very important to know how much we know. However it's very much important know that the are many thing we ignore.

Understamding, understamding CHAPTER 2

After reading the chapter, I would like to say that I think the text's been really useful, because it shows thinks that deep in side we already know, however we do not reflect on that very often. I would say that one sentence that will summarize the chapter it is the following: Understanding means to be further. For me it means that we could say that our duty as teachers it's being accomplished when we see that students develope thinking. In that way we are the ones who give them the info as tjhe first stage. For that matter it necesary to have well trained teachers, who are actually able to develope thinking on students. Thatit is the key to understandig, and if we have students that understand and develope thinking will be individuals who learn. As teachers, we should be always aware of this, because learning it is our final goal.

Understamding design: Chapter 1

After reading the text, I would like to reflect on the topic of teachers as designers. As it was stated in the text, teachers as designers have a multiple task. For one side they have to plan a curriculum or a lesson in order to get the best out of students, in terms of skills development. For the other side, they have to take into account that what they design should have an impact on students minds. The ideal would be that students are able to develope their thinking, but this will depend not only on the teacher and his lesson, but on the students and the context their are involved in.
